I Can... Learn Anything, Do Anything, Achieve My Goals!

Welcome to Jackson-Steele Elementary Media Center

MEET THE LIBRARIAN

Greetings!!!

My name is Ms. Annie P. Hayes and I am the Media Specialist here at Jackson-Steele Elementary School and I am a native of Lowndes County. When not in the library, I enjoy spending time with my family, watching NFL football (Go Falcons!), traveling to the beach, swimming, walking, going to the movies, outdoor activities, working out, attending live music events, and of course reading. Some of my favorite picture books are Chalk, Skippy Jon Jones, and My Name is Not Isabella. Some of my favorite chapter books are Little House in the Big Woods, Lord of the Rings, and Out of My Mind.

As a media specialist, I am constantly reminded of and amazed by what children are capable of accomplishing. I hold my students to high standards while being realistic about their age and their other commitments. I guide my instruction by asking myself, "What is best for students?" and "How would I want my child treated?"

My Teaching Philosophy

My beliefs on teaching are short and simple—Everyone Can. I believe that if someone is willing to do something or learn or grow, then everyone can accomplish, everyone can succeed, and everyone can grow. It is my philosophy that what students are exposed to and how they develop when they're younger can have an enormous impact on the rest of their lives. Additionally, it is my mission to instill in my students the belief that they too can do anything they set their minds to, and with my help, I hope to guide them along that path.

I believe in our future and I also believe that children are our future. I became a librarian in hopes of affecting students the way I was affected when I was young. I attempt very hard to provide the students with more than just knowledge but a basis and a respect for learning, growth, and curiosity that they will carry for a lifetime. I hope to do so, and I can't wait to work with each one of the students at JSES.

One of my favorite quotes is "A room without books is like a life without meaning." —Thomas Jefferson.

I strive to continue to take our Library/Media Center to infinity and beyond!!!
